Weapon has a 26 inch long barrel round barrel octagon at breech. Barrel is blued throughout with some minor scratches and two thin lines of white paint residue 1.75 inches long with some other small spots scattered near muzzle. Barrel is .36 caliber. Front sight is mortised in near muzzle with notch sight at rear. Bore has light dirt and very good rifling.

Iron frame has oxidized and is semi-bright. Strong markings on left front of frame read
“EDWARD MAYNARD / PATENTEE / MAY 27, 1851 / DEC. 6, 1859.” Right side of frame has strong marking that reads “MANUFACTURED BY / MASS. ARMS CO. / CHICOPEE, MASS.” Bolster area is dark but has original nipple with built-up dirt at base. Hammer has much original finish and operates properly. Action works fine. Frame screw heads show wear.

Wood butt has numerous small scratches with 90% of the original finish. There are no visible cracks. Triggerguard and buttplate are dark. Serial number on triggerguard tang is “4570.” Barrel tang has long blade flip-up sight.

Along with the weapon is an interchangeable 26.00 inch long shotgun barrel that has much original finish to match the barrel on the weapon but with some minor oxidation. Bore is .64 caliber.   [ad]
