Exceptional example of the standard issue .30-06 caliber service rifle used by the Americans in World War II. Principal markings include: “2568884” (serial number); “2 44” (date of barrel manufacture); “U. S. RIFLE CAL. 30M1 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY” (model and manufacturer); “SA” (manufacturer); “GAW” (SA Superintendent Colonel George A. Woody, U. S. Army Ordnance Corps).

The condition is exceptional with 98% of the finish remaining; really Like New! The stock has a few minor handling dings. The bore is excellent. The rifle is fully functioning with all of its original parts, and WITH ITS ORIGINAL WORLD WAR II FINISH! The rifle has never been reworked!

Springfield Armory manufactured 815,747 M1 rifles during 1944; based on the serial number, this rifle was made in February 1944 (the barrel date of “2-44” matches the month-year the rifle was made based on the serial number).
