Nice example of the standard issue .30-06 caliber service rifle used by the Americans in World War II. Principal markings include: “2775881” (serial number); “5 44” (date of barrel manufacture); “U. S. RIFLE CAL. 30 M1 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY” (model and manufacturer.) Left side of stock stamped with “SA” (manufacturer) over “GAW” (Springfield Armory Superintendent Colonel George A. Woody, U. S. Army Ordnance Corps) with light Ordnance Department cartouche.

The condition is very good to excellent with 98% of the finish remaining. The stock has a few minor handling dings. The bore is excellent. The rifle is fully functioning with all of its original parts. The rifle has never been reworked! Rod is uncut.

Records state that serial number 2,723,004 was the last M-1 produced in March of 1944 therefore we believe that this weapon bearing serial number 2,775, 881 was made in early to mid April of 1944.

Has green web sling attached.
