This large photo is made from Tipton negative #2046 and is entitled “FROM BIG ROUND TOP-THE GROUND OVER WHICH LAW’S ALABAMA BRIGADE ADVANCED FROM SEMINARY RIDGE TO ROUND TOP.” The image is very clear with excellent contrast. The view is looking southwest from Big Round Top. Visible in the left foreground is the gleaming white monument for the 1st Vermont Cavalry and in the middle distance are the buildings of the Slyder Farm. In the far distance Seminary Ridge can be discerned and at far left is Warfield Ridge which was the starting point for Law’s Brigade.

The image size is 17.00 inches long x 11.00 inches wide and is mounted on heavy stock that meas. approx. 22.00 inches long x 16 wide. The image itself is in fair to good condition. There is a 2.75 inch long crack in the image surface just to the left of the 1st Vermont Cavalry monument and some light foxing in the area of the sky. The mount has a bumped lower right corner and both the left and right upper corner areas have what look to be oil stains. On the left side the stain runs from the corner down the edge for about 9.25 inches and on the right it looks more like 3 distinct spots.

Just below the right corner of the image the mount is impressed with “W. H. TIPTON, 3 MAIN ST, GETTYSBURG, PA.” The reverse of the image has a nice Tipton paper label with a mounted cavalryman.
