This is the top skin only from a Pattern 1839 oval “US” plate. The skin has a dark patina with some light scattered discoloration. Scattered around the edge are some small freeze cracks.

The reverse has none of the lead fill and no attachment loops.

Skin was recovered at Gettysburg but no exact location is known.
