This relic was recovered by a local Gettysburg family (Gilbert) on their farm along the Taneytown Road after the battle of Gettysburg.

The item is a stud with a spike at bottom. It was used on wood framed knapsacks as strap fastener. The item is in good relic condition with light surface rust scattered throughout.
