These framed images show veterans of the 1st Pennsylvania Cavalry and their families on Little Round Top and in front of their monument on Cemetery Ridge.

The first image meas. approx. 20.25 x 15.25 in the frame which is of brown wood and modern. The image is housed in a cream colored mat to match the tone of the photo. The image shows approx. 75 people. Mostly veterans, standing in front of a statue of a kneeling cavalryman atop a boulder which is the monument to the 1st Pa. Cavalry on Cemetery Ridge. A good number of the men are wearing reunion ribbons and one or two have GAR kepis. The image is slightly faded but all details are clear. In the background are the fields that run along the top of Cemetery Ridge in the area of the Taneytown Road. The back of the frame has written in black marker “GEN. J. P. TAYLOR-1st PENN. CAV.” Taylor is believed to be the gent with the long beard sitting just to the left of the monument as you look at the photo.

The second image in the group matches the first in frame, mat and size as well as condition. This image shows 16 people, men, women and children standing on the summit of Little Round Top. At least four of the men appear to be veterans. In the background can be seen the Wheatfield Road and the Valley of death.

These images make a nice grouping for anyone interested in the 1st Pennsylvania Cavalry in particular or the battle of Gettysburg in general.
