Relics were recovered on Pickett’s Charge field by John Cullison, a local Gettysburg resident, who excavated relics on the field from 1935-1959.
Cullison sold his collection to the famed Gettysburg Rosensteel family, who held these relics in their private collection until released in 1996.
The items in the relic box include: a dropped intact Spencer cartridge, CS .58 caliber nose cast minie ball, CS field-made .58 caliber minie ball showing lead ladle cast marks, four buckshot from Buck/Ball cartridge, US .44 caliber Batholow bullet for Colt Army revolver, intact Williams Cleaner bullet, Spencer cartridge case fragment with fired Spencer bullet, two steel case shots both showing sprues, Soldier’s camp knife and spoon, two CS crude iron case shot shot, CS Enfield .577 Pritchett bullet, handmade CS .69 caliber Musket ball with sprue, two .54 caliber minie balls from Austrian Lorenz or M1841 Rifle, fired US .69 caliber Musket ball, fired US Sharps bullet, and a fired CS Ringtail Sharps bullet.
