This fragment was recovered west of town along Route 30 in a field next to the Herr Tavern. This is the second fragment found at this location. Most Whitworth shells and bolts are recovered from near the High Water Mark Monument and Devil’s Den.
Fragment has been highly cleaned with a light varnish. Measures 3” x 2 ½”. Only the second fragment of this type we’ve had for sale from Gettysburg.
