Relics were recovered on Pickett’s Charge field by John Cullison, a local Gettysburg resident, who excavated relics on the field from 1935-1959.
Cullison sold his collection to the famed Gettysburg Rosensteel family, who held these relics in their private collection until released in 1996.
The items in the relic box include: a large fragment of US/CS 12 pounder Spherical Case shot shell, three steel case shot (one showing sprue), two CS .58 caliber nose cast minie balls, CS Archer Shell base, two Enfield .577 caliber bullets, two US .58 caliber Star in Base minie balls, fragment of 3” Schenkl shell, two .69 caliber musket balls, intact US Williams Cleaner bullet, US .44 caliber Batholow pistol bullet for Colt Army revolver, base to a 3” US Hotchkiss shell, two fired .58 caliber minie balls, and three crude iron case shots.
