Post card sized advertisement for the City Hotel in Gettysburg.
Obverse of the card has a nice black and white line drawing of the building decked out with patriotic shields and flags and bunting along the roof edge. Under the drawing is “CITY HOTEL/JOHN E. HUGHES, PROPRIETOR/GETTYSBURG, PA.”
The reverse of the card has a bust drawing of Mr. Hughes and lists the location and amenities available at the hotel including “… A FULL LINE OF BATTLEFIELD WAGONS AND SURREYS.” As well as “FIRST CLASS GUIDES FOR THE FIELD. CHARGES REASONABLE. LIVERY AND FEED STABLE CONNECTED WITH HOTEL.”
Card meas. approx. 5.25 x 3.50 inches. There is some light surface dirt scattered throughout and bottom center has a half inch closed tear.
