Orange mount is marked on one end with “BATTLEFIELD OF GETTYSBURG” and on the other with “W. H. TIPTON & CO. PHOTOGRAPHERS AND PUBLISHERS GETTYSBURG, PA.”

This image is looking at the famous headquarters of Union General George G. Meade along the Taneytown Road just south of Gettysburg. The camera is set up behind a stone wall west of the farm and is looking northeast with the barn in the foreground and the house in the background.

Image is clear with good contrast and mostly clean. Caption reads “558.- GEN. MEADE’S HEADQUARTERS, REAR VIEW.”

Reverse has a postmark like stamp that reads “GETTYSBURG JULY 1, 2, 3, PA.”
