This is a pin-back medal made as a souvenir for the 50th anniversary, in 1913, of the Battle of Gettysburg. A pin-back metal bar in the form of a ribbon has “SOUVENIR” on the front. Suspended by two links is a 1 3/8” round medal.  The front reads, “19   50th ANNIVERSARY  13   BATTLE OF GETTYSBURG” around the edge.  In the center are busts of Generals Meade and Lee facing each other. Under them is a pair of hands clasped in a hardy shake to represent reconciliation. The back of the round medallion has a beautiful eagle clutching a shield and three draped flags. Medal is clean and bright, with gold finish overall.  [jet]
