GETTYSBURG BATTLEFIELD “DESK SET” OF RELICS

$1,495.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: R22743

Presented here is a wooden display “desk set” of relics from the Battle of Gettysburg. These were made of local battlefield relics and other components and were sold as souvenirs to early visitors to the battlefield. The relics are set upon a 6” long x 3” wide x 1” thick block of wood.  The centerpiece is a crudely-cast eagle mounted on a cut piece of burl wood. Around this is found a 1 ½” iron canister ball, a 4” section of triangular bayonet blade, a fired Minie ball, a round ball, and dropped Williams type II bullet, and two small pieces of iron artillery shell fragments. On the underside of the wood base is written “From the Battlefields of Gettysburg”.

An attractive example of a highly sought-after Gettysburg desk set.   [jet]
