Title page of this first edition volume reads, “REPORT OF THE SELECT COMMITTEE RELATIVE TO THE SOLDIER’S NATIONAL CEMETERY, TOGETHER WITH THE ACCOMPANYING DOCUMENTS, AS REPORTED TO THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA, MARCH 31, 1864. HARRISBURG: SINGERLY & MYERS, STATE PRINTERS. 1864”.
Book is covered in brown cloth with the title embossed in gold gilt on the cover. Text contains 108 pages which include reports by Governor Curtin, David Wills, Samuel Weaver, James Townsend, lists of the soldiers names who are buried in the cemetery, instructions on the design of the cemetery, a fold out map of the grounds, list of articles removed from the dead, address of Edward Everett from the dedication, prayers and hymns from the dedication, and the Gettysburg Address.
Book measures 6 ¼” by 9 ¾”. Cover shows heavy wear at spine, edges and corners. Pages have yellowed with age. Binding is tight with no loose pages. An endpaper appears to have been torn out at the back of book. [sl]
