Porcelain souvenir canteen features a colored image of General Lee on one side with blue lettering circling image that reads, “GETTYSBURG, PA. JULY 1863 1.2.3.4. JULY 1913”. Reverse features General Grant with blue lettering circling image that reads, “THE BLUE AND THE GRAY, IN GOD BE OUR TRUST”. Sling keepers are painted in gold gilt. Cork remains in spout. Gold cord is laced through keepers and is tied at the top.
Body of canteen measures 4 ¼”. No chips or cracks are present.
The reasoning for including Gen. Grant on this item is not known. [sl]
