Volume is hardcover and meas. approx. 6.50 x 9.75 inches. Brown cloth covers are embossed with a spread-winged eagle surrounded by the title “SOLDIERS NATIONAL CEMETERY GETTTYSBURG.” Boards have heavy to severe rubbing on the edges. Spine is covered with black tape. Volume runs approx. 212 pages.

Interior is tightly bound and have pages that are mostly clean. Folding map is present. Inside back cover has a handwritten list in pencil of Union Corps and their commanders at Gettysburg. Inside front cover has a period pencil inscription of “EAGLE HOTEL” and the page across from it bears the name “C. E. YOUNG.” Turning one page we come to a bold period ink inscription that reads “ZIEGLER & HOLTZWORTH GETTYSBURG LIVERY MEN.” It appears that a blank page at front is missing.

The Eagle Hotel was located on the corner of Washington and Chambersburg Streets in Gettysburg and is now the site of a 7-11. Ziegler and Holtzworth had their livery business right behind the hotel. The Eagle Hotel also served as headquarters for General John Buford on the night of June 30, 1863.  [ad]
