The front part of the book contains Mrs. Souder’s letters home to her husband from the battlefield hospitals. She mentions the conditions in the field hospital as well as the town. In one letter she mentions a number of wrecked limbers, wagons and dead horses on Chambersburg St. She also mentions some of her fellow workers as well as members of the Sisters of Charity who gave help to the wounded. The back part of the book contains poems of a patriotic and reflective nature.
