Stereo card is numbered “707” and bears the caption “IMPLEMENTS OF MODERN WARFARE.”
Image dates from 1875 and shows an open cabinet that displays artillery ammunition numbered from 1-50. The reverse of the card lists each shell by number and giving details of where it was found on the battlefield. The case is surrounded by flags, a drum and a sign that reads “IMPLEMENTS OF MODERN WAR.”
Image is very clear and bright. With a loop the numbers on the shells are easily seen and can be matched to the descriptions on the reverse. Card has a yellow mount and is labeled on the edges “ARTISTIC STEREO GEMS OF GETTYSBURG SCENERY” and “PHOTOGRAPHED BY W. H. TIPTON, GETTYSBURG, PA.”
Upper left corner is chipped and upper right is bumped slightly. Neither of these really affects the card in any negative way.
A much sought-after card. [ad]
