Anthony, New York/ From Photographic Negative/ Brady’s/ National Portrait Gallery.” Crisp and clean, lightly clipped in all four corners, the image depicts Gettysburg civilian John Burns in standing studio pose, clad in top hat and vest, holding the War of 1812 flintlock musket that he used in fighting alongside the Iron Brigade along McPherson’s ridge during the first day’s fight at Gettysburg. His name, “John Burns,” (non-autograph) appears in ink along lower front margin. Superb Gettysburg collectible. In protective sleeve. [JP]
