GETTYSBURG STEREOVIEW – “LOOKING TO ROUND TOP AND GRANITE SPUR”

$65.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 1032-36

Gettysburg battle stereoview, captioned “Looking to Round Top and Granite Spur.”  The view is oriented towards the south from the area of the Bryan Farm along Cemetery Ridge with the Round Tops clearly identifiable in the background.  Monuments of the II Corps are visible at right, to include the 14th Connecticut Infantry, the 1st Massachusetts Sharpshooters and 1st Rhode Island Artillery Battery A.  Detail is good, and the photo was likely taken in the winter.  There are no photographer markings, though the card style resembles that of William Tipton.  The caption at right is faint and foxing and light staining are present at the top 1/3 and bottom edge.  The backside is clean with an ink stamp “Ella Newton.”  The card is slightly bowed with some wear at the top right corner.  [JC]
