Image measures 9.75 x 7.5”, matted against heavy gray card, 13.75 x  10.5”. Features three Guard officers — Captain H. H. Mertz [seated], flanked by 2nd Lt. John DeK. Keith, and 1st Lt. Wm McG. Tawney. Crisp clear image, with minor chipping along  the  right and lower margin, and at the lower left card corner. Else VG.

The “Gettysburg Guard” was organized March, 1902, in the wake of  Spanish American War fervor. Solid Gettysburg collectible.  [jp]

VERY SCARCE 1799-1800 SWAN CONTRACT VIRGINIA MILITIA REGIMENTALLY MARKED MUSKET: 42nd REGIMENT, PITTSYLVANIA
