Vintage souvenir railroad lantern shows a tin base. Handle on lantern is painted in gold gilt. Etching on ruby glass reads, “SOUVENIR GETTYSBURG, S.D.”. Gettysburg, South Dakota was platted in 1884. The city was named in commemoration of the Battle of Gettysburg. A large share of the early settlers were veterans of the Civil War.
Lantern measures 4 ½” tall by just under 2” in circumference at the base. Shows light surface scratches. No chips or cracks. [sl]
