Issued to Mrs. David A. Buehler (July 12, 1887). 17 x 14.25” Pre-printed Form on light card paper, featuring upper and lower pictorial vignettes w/ miniature bust of Generals Reynolds and Meade. The certificate is faded and is chipped round the edge with a left upper corner torn off, without impeding the center script and images. Certificate is strengthened by archival taping on the reverse.

Mrs. David A. Buehler was the wife of the Association Vice President. After his death in 1887 she was awarded this certificate, and would be the only woman to ever so honored. Reverse contains the following explanatory note, in ink, probably written by a married daughter d Mrs. Buehler, signed in her married name. To wit:

“After my fathers death this certificate was given to my mother and she was the only woman so honored.

My father was the acting President of the association for many hears & up to the time of his death. Geo. Heagh (?) was President at this period Signed ______”/ (side comment) I think from the beginning however the records will show.”

In a hard plastic sleeve. Accompanied by xeroxed records from the Association minute book, dated Jan 29^th & July 12^th 1887. Solid Gettysburg Battlefield Association collectible.  [jp]
