This is a large piece of plaster made to look like an old scroll parchment. The top and bottom edges are rolled over as an open scroll would be. From the bottom edge to the top the piece meas. approx. 23.00 inches long and is 19.50 inches wide. Neatly carved on the face in fine script approx. 0.50 – 0.75 inch lettering is the text to the Gettysburg Address. Some of the lettering, especially at the beginning and end, is approx. 1.00 inch. This item is in good condition with minor chips along the edges that can easily be touched up. There is a line of wear going vertically through 5 lines of text. Only one letter on each line is affected and this also can easily be repaired. Back is stamped with “7-61” followed by a “T” in a triangle and a circled “C.” The back has a number of small chips to the surface and a thin circular surface crack but nothing serious. Assuming the “7-61” on the back is the date of manufacture, this item has held up pretty well over the years. Back has two eye-hooks already attached. All that is needed is some wire and this item is ready to hang on your wall. There is no known history to this piece. It was purchased at a show in Ohio.
