Aqua glass fruit jar produced by Whitall, Tatum & Company of Millville, New Jersey. Embossing on front reads, “WHITHALL’S PATENT, JUNE 18TH, 1861”. Reverse reads, “MILLVILLE ATMOSPHERIC FRUIT JAR”.
Closure for this style of fruit jar is a glass lid with Whitall’s patent info, secured by an iron yoke. Yoke shows some rust.
Jar measures 8” tall by 3 ¾” in diameter at the base. Very small chips are present at the edge of the lid. Irregularities and bubbles are present due the hand blown glass process. [sl]
