Oversized paperbound period ledger book that lists the names and regiments of soldiers from the town of Haverhill in the State of Massachusetts who received bounty money. The soldier’s names are listed by regiment with the amount they received and the signature of the family member who received it.

The title page of the book reads “STATE BOUNTY NO. 38. PAY ROLLS SEMI MONTHLY PAYMENT ENDINIG MAY 24, 1862.” Volume meas. approx. 9.00 x 14.50 inches and runs 12 pages. All have entries in readable period ink. Many regiments are listed more than once.

Volume contains soldiers from the following Massachusetts regiments; 1st, 5th, 11th, 12th, 14th, 17th, 19th, 20th, 22nd, 23rd, 28th, 29th, 30th, 3rd Light Battery, 3rd Cavalry.

A quick search of several of the names show men wounded at Fredericksburg, Gettysburg and the Wilderness along with some captured at Ball’s Bluff
