By J.H. MAUZY. Published by The Republican Co., Rushville, IN, 1887. Edition 100-privately printed. Front endpapers contain inked owner signature: “John D. Winebrenner”, followed by an interior Winebrenner library stamp. Interior front endpapers contain scratched out signature above presentation inscription from the author: “For Mrs.W.W. Innis/ from J. H. Mauzy/ June 2, 1904. (William Innis was a member of 68th Indiana, Co. “D”, and this inscription is obviously to his wife, very likely, by 1904, his widow.

212 pp., 3 fldg. maps. Green glazed cloth, 7.5 x 5.25, w/gilt cover and spine lettering. Exhibits slight scratching of rear cover, else near fine.

Organized in Indianapolis in August 1862, the 68th Indiana was captured a month later at the Siege of Munsfordville, KY, and paroled back to Indianapolis for reorganization. Assigned to the 14th Army Corps, Army of the Cumberland, the unit participated in the Battles of Chickamauga, the Siege of Chattanooga, and the Battles of Missionary Ride and Nashville, where it was mustered out, June 20, 1865. During service it lost39 men killed and mortally wounded and 111 by disease for a total of 150.
