This New Testament was published in New York by the American Bible Society in 1863. It has an embossed brown cloth cover with, “TESTAMENT” in gold gilt on the spine. Third page has a faded handwritten inscription that reads, “PRESENTED TO HENRY GEE 1st LIEUT. CO. D 59TH REGIMENT PENN VOLUNT BY -------------- 2ND LIEUT”.

Text contains 479 pages. Pages are tightly bound to the spine, although front and back covers have completely separated from the spine. There are scattered areas of wear, with corners and edges showing heavier wear. Pages have yellowed with age and show spotting in areas. No torn pages. Measures 2 ¾” by 4 ½”.

Henry Gee enlisted on July 1, 1863 as a 1st Lieutenant and was commissioned into Co. “D”, 59th PA Infantry. He was mustered out on September 9, 1863.  [sl]
