Small hymnal has a decorative border around the printed title on front cover. It reads, “UNION HYMNS FOR USE IN SABBATH SCHOOL, BIBLE CLASSES, TEACHER’S MEETINGS”. Hymnal was produced by the American Sunday School Union. Inside of front cover is hand inscribed in pencil, “CATHERINE THUMA / CT”.  Catherine Warner Thuma (1840-1921) was the wife of John Thuma (1843-1915), Co. “B”, 215th PA Volunteer Infantry. They are both buried in the Marietta Cemetery in Lancaster, PA.

Measures 2 ¾” by 4 ¼”. Text contains 352 pages. Cover shows moderate wear, especially on edges. A front end paper is torn, a few pages at the end show water spotting, otherwise good condition and totally readable.  [sl]
