Exhibits light soiling of lower cover, one cover scuff, & light wear at head and foot. Else Good plus. Solid VA militia collectible, ID’D.
Dearmont, born in 1829 in Clarke County, VA served as Colonel of the 122nd Virginia Militia, and later in Company C of the 43rd Battalion of Virginia Partisan Cavalry – otherwise known as Mosby’s Rangers. Following the war he was a farmer, and from 1866 to 1870 served as Sheriff of Clarke County, VA. Dearmont died in 1891 and is buried in Meade Memorial Episcopal Church Cemetery in White Post, Clarke County. [jp/ld]
