Isaac Dyer was commissioned Lieut. Col. Into Field & Staff of the 15th Maine Infantry, 12/17/1861, promoted regimental colonel, 8/26/1862, then to Bvt. Brig. Genl., 3/13/1865. Discharged 9/13/1865. His unit, the 15th Maine, was dispatched early to Dept. of the Gulf, participating in the 1864 Red River Campaign and the Battle of Sabine Pass. Transferred east, they were present with the 18th Corps at Bermuda One Hundred. During service they lost 5 men killed and 343 by disease for a total of 348.
