Image is a waist up view of George W. Shiver. He is wearing a dark colored coat with shoulder straps and white shirt with light colored tie or cravat.

Image is clear with good contrast. Very light surface dirt or smudges are present.

George W. Shiver was a resident of Philadelphia PA. At the age of 21 years he enlisted on 8/15/1862 as a private. On 8/15/1862 he mustered into Co. “B’, 119th PA Infantry. He received the following promotions: Corporal 1/12/1863, Sergt. 9/1/1863, 1st Lieut. 7/25/1864. He was listed as wounded 4/2/1865 at Petersburg, VA (Severe wound in right foot, amputated). He was discharged for wounds on 5/28/1865.  [sl]
