Excavated example of a Civil War period “Spear Head” type flagstaff finial. Recovered at Brandy Station, Virginia. This flagstaff tip exhibits a pleasing, light greenish patina from years of ground action.
By the artifact shown, you can easily see that the tip was lost due to the threaded shaft being broken off flush at the base. This tip comes enclosed within a glass front Walnut display case with a plaque noting the area of recovery.
