This die-struck rolled brass plate has a spread-winged eagle at center surrounded by a border of 12 stars and a garland of oak leaves. The 13th star is at center of the eagle’s chest in the upper quadrant of a patriotic shield. The face is in good condition with light surface dirt throughout.
Reverse has tongue and bar still attached. Bar is missing the two retaining pins for attaching to a belt and is slightly bent.
Many of these plates saw Civil War service.
