MARYLAND CONFEDERATE BELT PLATE

$3,500.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 801-32

The face of this rectangular, cast brass Maryland CS belt plate has the Maryland state seal in a raised oval riband. The images in the state seal are a plowman, a fisherman, and a shield, with the Maryland coat of arms. At the top of the oval is the Latin motto, “CRESITE ET MULTIPLICAMINI” which means, “increase and multiply”.

The plate has a light patina, with some darkened spots and some light verdigris. Back of plate has a soldered small brass tongue and no benchmark. Image and lettering are very clear with great detail. Edges are free of nicks or dents.

Original Maryland Confederate items are a very rare find.
