Stamped brass rectangular belt plate has the raised image of the Virginia state seal with motto, “SIC SEMPER TYRANUS” above, and, “VIRGINIA” below. Seal features Virtus with sword down and spear up, standing over the slain tyrant. Laurel wreath flanks the seal on each side.
Reverse shows soldered single hook and keeper with two teeth. Plate retains original curve.
Plate exhibits a medium patina, with original gilt showing on high areas. Measures 1 7/8” by 2 ¾”. [sl]
