Very nice and complete eagle militia plate circa 1840-1860.
Stamped sheet brass plate featuring a central eagle within a thin linear border surrounded by thirteen five-pointed stars around the edge with a patriotic shield flanked by sprigs of laurel at bottom center.
Reverse retains the sheet brass tongue as well as a bar with two sliding teeth for attaching to a belt.
Plate has a nice bright appearance. Left edge has slight wave to it.
A very attractive example. [AD]
