An example of this canteen can be found on page 164 of Steve Sylvia and Mike O’Donnell’s book “CIVIL WAR CANTEENS.” This example is in excellent condition. The metal surfaces show light wear from use and age and are very clean. There are no major dings or dents in the body and the original cork stopper and chain are still present.

When together the canteen meas. approx. 7 9/16 inches tall and 3 ¼ inches thick. The width varies from 5 3/8 inches across the bottom to 6 ½ inches at its widest point. When separated the canteen consists of four parts. The main canteen section, a rectangular drinking cup with folding handles that fits over the base of the canteen and two larger cooking or soup pans with folding handles that fit within each other and then over the body of the canteen.

As stated above the pieces are in good clean condition. This is a museum quality item.
