Ca. 1860s. Silver R.I. badge measuring 1" x 1.25", featuring a banner - 'BAND OF HOPE' - superimposed upon an anchor which is itself superimposed upon an American shield. Straight vertical pin soldered in rear. Sparkling piece for Rhode Islanders who are also aware that Gen. Burnside's choice of a similar shield anchor for the Union 9th Corps badge was influenced by his Rhode Island affiliations.
