U.S. MODEL 1851 SHORT SWORD ARTILLERY BELT

$850.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: M23273

This black harness leather version of the 1851 belt for the model 1832 Artillery short sword is comprised of the waist belt, along with both the 1851 plate and attached frog. The buckle has matching “Bench mark numbers” on rear of both plate and keeper #748, which indicates the buckle assembly and belt have originally been together since being manufactured. The leather is still supple and all stitching is intact. Surfaces of the waist belt and frog show various signs of crazing and flaking loss. One small edge tear located on the left suspension strap of the frog. There are no signs of either a manufacturer’s mark or inspector’s mark. A complete example.
