The leather surface of this belt is very good with only light scattered surface wrinkling. There is no flaking of any kind. All surface finish is original. One end has sewn and riveted brass belt keeper while the opposite end has a thin brass hook for adjusting size. This hook is attached to the belt by two brass rivets. This end would pass through the keeper on the belt plate if it were present. Sliding leather keeper is also present on this end of the belt. Just behind the hook rivets the leather is stamped with “42 ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL” and has inspector’s initials “W. T. G.”
