US CAVALRY/ARTILLERY MAKER MARKED BUFF LEATHER SWORD BELT WITH NCO PLATE

$1,950.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 1000-706

White buff belt dyed brown on the outside in overall excellent condition.

Plate is rectangular eagle plate with the applied silver wreath marked “584” with a matching numbered keeper. The bottom front edge of the plate has a casting flaw that was filed to fit the corner of the keeper however the fit is not perfect. The imperfection is only visible when looking at the plate from the bottom. Interior surface of the belt bears an oval maker’s mark for a Newark, New Jersey maker. The company name is a bit faint and cannot be made out with certainty.

Left side of the belt has double riveted and sewn tab holding two brass “D” rings, one at top for anchoring a shoulder support strap and the one at bottom holds a brass hook for the sword and the shorter of the two sword drops.

The back of the belt has a square brass ring attached by riveted and sewn leather straps. This ring holds the longer of the two sword drops as well as the other end of the shoulder support strap.

Sword drops are complete with all the brass hardware and are also in excellent condition.

This is a museum quality complete example.  [ad]
