Elaborate design featuring an eagle in the center. Two-piece, tongue and wreath style buckle of cast brass and gilted. Pre-Civil War design that continued to be used through the war.
Leather belt is in fine condition. Belt has an overall length of about 44” and is 1 ¾” wide. A brass adjuster buckle and two floating belt loops are present.
An excellent example of a pre-war militia belt and buckle. Reference O’Donnell & Campbell, Plate 329 on page 216. [jet]
