White buff leather is in excellent condition with some discoloration from surface dirt and fading of finish. The belt is constructed in three sections which are connected by two square brass rings. Hanging from the rings is a white buff frog for a Model 1832 Artillery short sword. Frog is in good condition and should be able to hold a sword. The top of the frog has a split seam that has a period repair using a copper rivet.
The plate is the Model 1836 sword belt plate consisting of a cast brass tongue with “US” and a plain wreath of the same material. Both sections of the plate match in regards to patina and fit perfectly.
Belt also has two leather keepers. One behind the tongue which is movable and one stationary keeper behind the brass size adjustment hook. [ad]
