Leather belt meas. approx. 2.00 inches wide x 39.00 inches long. The exterior surface is worn with scattered patches of surface finish loss throughout.
One end of the belt holds a Pattern 1839 oval US plate with arrow hooks and tongue on the reverse. The face of the plate has a light patina with a few scattered oxidation spots. There is one small indentation at the top. The opposite end of the belt has eight adjustment holes and no keeper.
Just behind the plate the leather is stamped with a maker’s and sub-inspectors mark but due to surface finish loss they are unreadable.
The wear on the belt and plate does look to be from use. [ad]
