The exterior leather on this box is in good condition throughout with only light surface crackling on the lower outer flap in the area of the latch-tab. The inner flap is in excellent condition with both ears, a Sub-Inspectors stamp and a maker’s mark of “R. NECE.” The interior has the lamb’s wool and a few caps but no pick. The body of the box is in very nice condition with two belt loops on the back and a pear shaped brass finial at bottom.

Reuben Nece & Company was located in Philadelphia and had numerous Army contracts throughout the war for leather accouterments.
