Very nice early militia box. The exterior surfaces of the box are very good. The outer flap is as smooth and clean with slight crazing. The latch tab shows heavy wear as it is torn on one side. It is attached to the underside by straight line stitching. There is a small cross on each side of box but no maker’s mark. All stitching is tight.

Inner flap has heavy crazing. Flap has both ears. Implement box has slight crazing. Tab and loop are present with no tears.

The interior body of the box and the implement pocket are very good.

Reverse matches the rest of the box in condition. One belt loop is present but unattached at the top, while the other is missing. Roller buckles are not present. Sling loop is broken on one side with a piece missing. Brass finial is present and has a slight buildup of verdigris.
