Large leather box to hold cartridges and carried on the belt. The outer flap is clearly marked “USN”. Outer flap exhibits minor wear and a few “rubs”. The latch tab has broken off at the point where the hole for the finial was cut, and lower portion is missing. Inner flap is clean and flexible but has no mark. The integral cap pouch is clean, supple, and retains the latch tab. The lamb’s wool is still present. Small musket tool holders are positioned on either side of the cap pouch. Both are complete and functional. One contains some sort of home-made sewing awl. Both cartridge tins are complete and present. The leather is soft and pliable and stitching is still tight. Whatever type of belt loops this box once had are now missing. In good condition.
