The leather on this box is in good condition. The outer flap has some crazing with flaking and surface finish loss near the top. There is a faint inspectors stamp and “US” just above the latch tab stitching and there are some signs of a makers mark on the bottom edge of the flap but it is not readable. The latch tab is solid.
The interior of the box is in nice condition showing light wear and some verdigris around the rivet heads.
The bottom of the box has a brass pear-shaped finial.
The reverse of the box has both belt loops that both show light crazing. There is a small asterisk stamped alongside each belt loop. [ad]
